Pick any one of the events happening in and around the area to keep your week busy. Whatever you choose to do, I’ll be highlighting attractions, activities, and festivals right here, every week. From local music and shows to options for those of you who don’t mind traveling a bit, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to check all activities, as cancellations can occur. The events listed are for May 5 to 14.

Friday

29th annual Dandelion Festival. Enjoy a Spring day in Dover with wine, cheese, and dandelions. Hosted by Breitenbach Winery and held at the new Roadhouse Amphitheater, 1/2 mile east of the winery on Old Route 39, guests can sample various dandelion treats and shop for dandelion-themed gifts. Various food trucks are scheduled to be there, and there will be live music as well. This event is scheduled to run Friday from noon to 7 p.m and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Grab some friends and make a day of it. For more information call 330-343-3603. Saturday

Fourth annual Mid-East CTC Car, Truck, and Bike Show. Head to the Buffalo campus to check out some of the coolest classics around. Those wishing to register their vehicles for the show can do so for $10. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Guests will enjoy live music and entertainment as well as having concessions available for purchase. A 50/50 raffle is scheduled to take place, with proceeds going to the SkillsUSA chapter at the school. For more information call 740-454-0105. Ethan Timm. A little weekend jam session is always enjoyable. Head up to Georgetown Vineyards to hear the vocal stylings of Ethan Timm. The acoustic guitarist and singer will be performing from 6 to 9 p.m., covering classics and original pieces as well. For more information call 740-435-3222. May 14

Purses and Pistols Pokeno. Participants have the chance to win guns, designer purses and play games, thanks to the Guernsey County Sportsman Association. Held at Deerassic, this event combines dinner, raffles, games, and fundraising. Play rounds of Pokeno, a combination of poker, keno, and bingo for your chance to win. Two additional raffles are being held for a custom Glock 17 and a custom .410 Henry Mares Leg. Proceeds go towards the Youth Shooting Sports Funding Foundation.   • Thursday. Byesville Farmers Market. Head to Byesville and sample all that the farmers market has to offer. From fresh, locally-grown vegetables, homemade baked goods, and even meat, you are sure to find something to take home.   • Friday. First Fridays! “Around the World”. The Guernsey County Visitor and Convention Bureau is hosting this event from 4 to 7 p.m. Check out info about tourism in the area or sign up for your chance to win one of the giveaways.
